Dorking 10

General Information

About the Dorking 10 Mile Road Race

The 24th Dorking 10 Mile Road Race was held on Sunday the 31st May. The race is held under UKA rules and incorporates the Surrey County 10 Mile Championships.

The Dorking 10 is one of the premier road races in the south of England, attracting over 700 entrants annually, many of whom have run the race previously. The race consists of a small single circuit within a larger outer loop through the rolling Surrey countryside and caters for runners of all abilities. There are numerous prizes for individuals and teams and in addition, there are three Fun Runs covering six age categories (U6 - U16) before the main race for young people.

Some significant improvements were made to the race in 2007 following feedback from BARR. The race now starts on Brockham Green which is better for both runners and spectators, as there is room for everyone to move around without being on the road until the actual race start, and so much nicer for family and friends as they can see everyone off at the start. The route was also modified so that runners first go round a small inner loop and then continue along the larger outer lap back towards the finish which is under the rugby posts on the Big Field as usual. We also introduced chip timing which speeded up the results no end! The feedback has been very positive with comments about the wonderful scenery, good marshalling and organisation.

Next year's Dorking 10 will be held on Sunday the 13th June.
