Surrey Schools XC Championships at Reigate 22 January 2011.

Following the wonderful performance by the U/13 girls last week in the Surrey league. The juniors squad have surpassed that with:

Sam Cliff starting the morning off with a great performance by winning the primary 2k boys race for Powell Corduroy School in 8m.29s beating 159 runners.

This was then followed by, what must be a club first. A 1st, 2nd and 3rd & 12th out of 78 athletes in the U/13 girls 2.6k race, running for Guildford district who won the race with 12 pts:

1st.Megan Winslade.12.00
2nd.Lucy Brett. 12.10.
3rd.Hannah Morris 12.18.
12th.Emily Hornung.12.56.

Not to be left out the boys scored another success when Ben Dyson put up a determined run to come 2nd of 85 in the U/13 boys 2.6k race in 11.28, again running for Guildford.

In both the earlier Boys and Girls primary races DMV was very well supported by some excellent performances by juniors running in their first Surrey Schools Championships and the future of the clubs junior section looks very healthy.

In memory of Peter Trill

Peter Trill was a very active and popular member of DMV, who died unexpectedly in 2005 at the very early age of 60. Peter's daughter Joanne, a non-runner, has entered a half marathon - a really big challenge for her - and she will be running to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer research, from which her father died.

If any of Peter's old friends in the club would like to sponsor Joanne, they can do so by going to:-
