Surrey Road League and Championships 2008

Congratulations to Nick Hodges who won the overall series in the highly competitive Senior Mens category. The results from the races in this year's Surrey Road League have now been added.

Road Relays

During September we take part in both the County and South of England road relays. For both of these events we need teams of 6 for the senior men and teams of 4 for the vet men and ladies. The 2 races are great for team spirit and the aim is get a good turn out this year ahead of the cross country season.
13th September - Wimbledon Park (Athletics Track), County Championships start 12 Noon
27th September - Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot, SOE
Please can everyone confirm their availability for these races to Nick Hodges (Men) and Dave Stead (Ladies).

Mob Match 20th September Reigate Priory Park

The cross country season this year will start in September with a pre-season "Mob Match" 5 mile race in Reigate Priory on Saturday 20th September, between Reigate, Dulwich and ourselves. The idea is to get as many people as possible and is open to both men and women. The more runners the more points we get, so we need everyone to turn up. Please confirm availability to Nick Hodges.

So here's a quick reminder for most and for the new faces, welcome. The Surrey league comprises four 5 mile cross country races on Saturday afternoon's, 2 this year and 2 next year. We had a great season with about 20 to 25 runners at most races, and after the previous season's disappointment we secured promotion to Division One. Lets go and show those in Division One what DMVAC is made of and see if we can stay up. The enthusiasm and team spirit was amazing last year and hopefully we can carry on where we left off and finish well in the league. One thing to remember as we discovered the season before last is that every point counts and even more important is every race especially the first race.

Start times for Mens Surrey League are 2.30pm (Boys) and 3.00pm (Men) (except for 10th January early start 2.00pm and 2.30pm).

Dorking 10 Sunday 1st June 2008 - Volunteers Needed

The club urgently needs help on Sunday June 1st at the Dorking 10 race. If you could possibly spare a few hours then there are plenty of interesting jobs to be done! Don't worry if you can't come for the whole morning - any offer would be gratefully appreciated. Alternatively, if you are running then please do make a cake for the refreshments stall or supply a marshall.

Pixham Working Party 19th April - 9.30am

On the 19th April there will be a working party at Pixham to start getting the facilities ready for the summer track and field season. There are plenty of jobs that need to be done, both large and small. Please turn up and show you support as this is your club, the more helpers the quicker it is all done.

Southern Men's Track and Field League

The club has not participated in a track and field league for a very long time and this year the club is joining forces with Redhill and Holland Sports to enter Division 3. It would be good if we can support the joint team during the season. All the races are on Saturdays, provisional venues below. Please let either Dave Stead or Nick Hodges know if you are interested.

DMVAC succeed second time round in the Surrey Cross Country League

(Match report from Nick Hodges) Dorking were out in force for the final Surrey league cross country fixture at the weekend at Lloyd Park, Croydon. Going into the race we were 3rd overall with only about 50 points separating the top 3 clubs, with top 2 teams being Stragglers and Dulwich. The course was muddy and under water in places as usual, but that did not prevent everyone putting their all into the race. We had 4 in the top 10 which was amazing, including Nick Hodges, Simon Beardsall, Ed Clements and Fraser Dawson. After the race the team were in high spirits and confident on their strong runs. I have never seen such great team spirit and the whole atmosphere was amazing. You all deserve credit in making that strong team bond. We came 2nd on the day, 22 points behind 1st Stragglers and 56 points ahead of 3rd Dulwich. This result has secured the teams promotion to Division 1, with the final league position of 2nd behind Stragglers.
